Towns & Villages
Portumna
(Irish Port Omna meaning Port of the Oak) is at the junction of the River Shannon and lough Derg.  It is well known tourist destination for boaters, golfers and anglers.

Terryglass Situated on the shore of Lough Derg in North Tipperary.  It has two historic wells, the Eye Well and the Headache Well which are said to have curative properties.

Dromineer Home to an 11th century Towerhouse, idyllic scenery and a public harbour.  It is apopular place to visit, especiallyfor those out boating on the lake.

Garrykennedy The harbour was constructed in 1829, using stone from the old castle, the ruins of which stand today.

Scarriff The recently extended harbour leads boaters to this little country town  a top a hill.

Mountshannon A beautiful 17th century village overlooking an impressive harbour.  The monastic settlement on holy Island is just a short trip from the village.

Nenagh An interesting cluster of varied architecture from the 13th century Castle to the 18th century Town Houses.

Roscrea A busy market town within easy reach of lakes, bogs, mountains, woods, stately homes and gardens.

Puckaun A little inland from Lough Derg this is an attractive and busy village with many traditional style cottages.
