Tullamore Town
‘Tulach Mhór', meaning ‘Big Hill' is home to the
origins of the town's most famous export,
Tullamore Dew - the legendary Irish
Whiskey, which can be traced back to 1829
when the Tullamore Distillery was founded by
Michael Molloy. World Class Heritage Sites
near the town include Clonmacnoise, Durrow
and Charleville Castle & Forest with numerous other visitor attractions
within a 30 minute drive. Tullamore is an excellent location for
exploring all parts of the region and Ireland and it is regarded as the
entertainment capital of the Midlands with its wide selection of cafes,
bistros & bars. The town plays host to many festivals and events
including the Phoenix Festival and the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann.
