Take a step back in time with Chapterhouse Theatre Company as we meet Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters. Whilst their interfering mother engineers various courtships, sisters Elizabeth and Jane must pursue their own quest for true love. Amongst misunderstandings, mistakes and miscommunications, the two girls must fight for the men they love until Elizabeth can finally surpass her prejudices to see past the proud exterior of the enigmatic Mr Darcy. After all, it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife…

Saturday 18th September Bat Walk with Bat Conservation Ireland
Illustrated talk on Bats, dispelling all of the myths and detailing just how marvellous these tiny mammals really are. Followed by guided bat walk with use of Bat Boxes (which allows you to hear the bats, hunt, and communicate with each other) around Belvedere’s parkland. Walk is weather permitting (bats are far too sensible to be out in the wet or cold!). Wear warm clothing sensible footwear and small torch. Entry is free, donations if desired to Bat conservation Ireland.

Trick or Treat Trail at 12 noon sharp. Belvedere staff spends 2 hours placing treats all along Belvedere walks; but it usually only takes the large number of waiting Trick-or-treaters approx 30 minutes to clear the grounds. Belvedere’s normal entry fee applies.
Forest of Fear; Yeti and his friends are loose on the grounds and is particularly attracted by Belvedere’s red tram!! Normal entry fee applies, plus tram trip (€2 per adults & €1 per child/senior). Saturday 13th November Winter Weathering Bird Walk
Winter Weathering Bird Walk and Talk at 1pm on Sunday 13th November 2009; in association with Bird Watch Ireland Join with Alex Copland of Bird Watch Ireland as he guides the last bird walk of 2010; the theme of the walk is winter weathering. Alex will discuss native bird species and give advice on feeding garden birds over the winter… this is an excellent opportunity to ask an expert on how to help our feathered friends through the winter. The guided walk is weather dependent; wear warm clothing and sensible footwear.

Sunday 28th November Green Santa at Belvedere
Narnia goes back in time, back to a time when Father Christmas wore Green robes; as in Victorian Times. Modern day Santa Claus is red because of association with Coca Cola’s 1930’s advertising campaigns and from Thomas Nast’s earlier cartoons, but before he was red he was Green.
Behind the Wardrobe is a completely new experience for Christmas. Green Santa knows his roots and has a message for children everywhere. Christmas is not just about Toys there are other gifts that are far more important. Children will visit Green Santa in his magical grotto after entering another world through the enchanted Narnia Wardrobe and will receive natural gifts. Green Santa will help the children pot up seasonal native Irish trees such as Holly and Scots pine from CRANN which the children can plant in their gardens at home. Wildflower seed shakers for creating magical fairy carpets and old fashioned Victorian Candy Canes are other Green Santa treats.
Green Santa arrives in Narnia at Belvedere on Sunday 28th November at midday and will be there each weekend up to Christmas. Wednesday 8th December Christmas Floral Demonstration by
Richard Haslam
Belvedere is delighted to welcome back Richard Haslam for what is fast becoming his annual Christmas Floral Demonstration at Belvedere at 8pm.
Over the course of his career, Richard has become one the country's best-known designer florists, claiming gold medals at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court Flower Show, as well as arranging flowers for the papal visit to Ireland and for visiting heads of state, including Presidents Clinton and Bush.
Richard describes his signature style as simple with a local angle, using locally sourced materials to create his masterpieces. He has showcased this elegant and subtle style in his new coffee-table book 'Flowers', which features stunning arrangements pictured at local landmarks including Barna Woods.
Door will open at 7.30pm for wine reception; Floral demonstration will begin at 8pm.
All floral arrangement made on the night will be raffled on the night.
