The Old Fort Restaurant
The Old Fort Restaurant is located in the main building of the
Shannonbridge fortifications. This building was constructed in 1810
(approx) as a bridgehead defence against Napoleon. The Bridgehead
defences at Shannonbridge are unique in Ireland and Britain. They are a
remarkable example of artillery fortifications of the Napoleonic period.
Since opening in 2002, the restaurant has been short- listed a number of
times for "The National Food and Wine Magazine" Awards.
Opening Hours: Wed- Sat 5- 9.30pm Sun 12.30- 3.00pm Extended
opening hours during the summer months.
